PhotoNOLA Invitational underscores the continued vitality of photography in New Orleans and celebrates the artists shaping the medium today. The works in this group show reflect the breadth of photographic expression found across the Gulf South and beyond, ranging from documentary and environmental portraiture to conceptual and experimental image-making.

RECENT RESIDENCY: Cill Rialaig Arts Centre, Dun Geagan, Ballinskelligs, County Kerry, Ireland, FEBRUARY/MARCH 2025

For nearly 20 years, professional visual artists, writers, poets and composers from Ireland and around the world have lived and worked at the Cill Rialaig Retreat, making it an important centre for creativity. In 1991, The Cill Rialaig Project began the rescue and restoration of a small pre-famine village on Bolus Head at the very end of the Iveragh Peninsula, thus creating an artists retreat that has attracted over the years over 4,500 artists from Ireland and the world.

EXHIBITION: Permanent Installation, CrescentCare, 2515 Canal Street ,New Orleans, LA 70119, Opened OCTOBER 16, 2024

This permanent installation, curated by Arthur Roger, showcases works donated by over 100 artists and reflects the diversity and rich culture of the city. A leader in healthcare, CrescentCare (formerly NO/AIDS Task Force) provides a wide range of services, including prenatal care, family services, food assistance through "Food for Friends," transgender health services, and continued AIDS support, regardless of insurance status or income.

This publication is the culmination of a yearlong exhibition of my photography at the African Studies Department at Stony Brook. Last January I presented an artist’s talk at the department and and gave a lecture about the subject of my work. I am grateful to Dr. Patrice Nganang for the opportunity and excellent experience.
